The Dower House is located at High Duddon, about a mile west of Broughton-in-Furness

Travelling by car

Leave the M6 by Junction 36 taking the A590 (Barrow-in-Furness). Continue on dual carriageway for 3 miles then exit left (A590 Barrow-in-Furness) following the signs for Newby Bridge. Four and a half miles beyond Newby Bridge turn right on to the A5092 at Greenodd (soon after the Rusland Pool Hotel - signpost Workington). Continue on the A5092 passing over the hill at Grizebeck.  At the base of the hill is a petrol filling station, continue on the past the station - the road now becomes the A595 (Workington). Continue past Foxfield Railway Station and after approx 2 miles, cross the Duddon Bridge (traffic lights). Immediately after the bridge turn right, following the river, signposted `Corney', then immediate left, entering the signed driveway to the Dower House.  Continue slowly up the drive to the House.
